Pièges et mythes à éviter avec votre sapin de Noël 🎄

4 Things You Should Never Do With Your Christmas Tree 🎄

A few words of wisdom from Michel… with a little humor.

Christmas is all about spending time with family, eating well, celebrating… and ideally keeping your Christmas tree standing until January.

So here are a few tips from Michel to help you have a very merry Christmas — and avoid a few questionable decisions along the way.

1. Don’t dance with your Christmas tree.

We know things can get festive during family gatherings. But even after a few drinks, your Christmas tree is not a dance partner.

Actually, alcohol or not, just don’t dance with the tree. It prefers to stay in its stand.

2. Don’t put alcohol in your tree’s water.

No, your Christmas tree doesn’t need a little pick-me-up to make it through the holidays.

Fresh water is all it needs. Save the alcohol for yourself — it might make certain family gatherings a little more cheerful, if necessary…

3. Cigarettes and joints: keep them away from the tree.

Natural Christmas trees contain resin and become more flammable as they dry out. Keep cigarettes, joints, open flames and other heat sources away from your tree.

And if tip #1 suddenly starts sounding like a great idea, that’s probably a sign it’s time to step away from the tree.

4. Don’t throw your Christmas tree out the window.

After the holidays, check with your borough to find out when natural Christmas trees are being collected.

And if you suddenly spot the collection truck coming down the street, resist the urge to launch your tree off the balcony or out the window.

Plan ahead. Your tree deserves a slightly more dignified exit after spending Christmas with you.

One last piece of advice from Michel

Take care of your tree, keep it well hydrated and enjoy it with the people you love.

As for everything else… use your best judgment.
